PART ONE
Preparation

“Preparation is the mindful art of reshaping the brain and readying the heart—tilling the inner soil so transformation can take root.”
Preparation
For thousands of years, cultures around the world have turned to sacred medicines for healing, insight, and transformation. These practices rest on three essential pillars—preparation, experience, and integration—each one shaping the depth and durability of change. Preparation is more than logistics; it is the conscious tending of the inner soil so that when the moment arrives, you are ready to meet it with openness.
In this work, set and setting are the ground from which everything grows. Set is the mind you bring: your beliefs, hopes, fears, and—most importantly—your intention for personal change. Not change in the world “out there,” but in the inner landscape you inhabit every day. What patterns no longer serve you? What qualities long to emerge? Preparation is the quiet, deliberate art of aligning your mind and heart toward that vision. Setting is the space that holds you—safe, private, and alive with nature’s presence—so that you may release the need to guard yourself and turn fully inward.
Approach this journey as you might approach a sacred threshold. Come willing to be surprised. Come ready to meet whatever rises—from joy to grief—with the same steady breath. This is the beginning of learning a new way of being in the world—one rooted not in resistance, but in the trust that what arrives is exactly what is needed for your healing. Here are some reflections and practical reminders as you prepare:
- This is a journey of self-exploration, guided by your own presence and inner wisdom. You are not alone. The space we create together is safe, private, welcoming of all that arises, and fully supported.
- The mind will open new possibilities. Where you place your attention matters. You will be invited to follow the threads that feel alive—not with force, but with gentle curiosity.
- Remember: resistance creates suffering. The degree to which we fight, deny, or control an experience is often the degree to which we feel caught in it. The invitation is always to soften. Trust the process. Let go. Let go. Let go.
- If fear, anger, shame, or grief arise—welcome them. These emotions live in you already; the session simply brings them to the surface where they can be met and transformed. The paradox is this: what we resist, persists. What we allow with kindness can move through us and release its hold.
- Every difficult emotion is carried by a story—narratives of blame, shame, or why happiness feels impossible. But the path to healing lies not in the story, but in the body. Bring your attention to sensation. Be curious about the breath, the heart, the places that ache or hum with life.
- When you feel turbulence or overwhelm, come back to the breath. Anchor yourself in its rhythm. The rise and fall of the body is always here to steady you.
- Prioritize feeling over thinking. The thinking mind will try to explain, interpret, or manage. But it is the heart and body—your living experience—that know the way forward
- Above all, trust the process. Trust the intelligence that moves through you. Trust the steady presence of the space we’ve prepared. And most importantly, trust the deeper healing force already alive within you.
This is a sacred space, created with care to honor the depth of the work. Your presence—open, curious, and willing—is the most essential thing you can bring.
